Wiper downgrade
On a typical Monday afternoon a few months ago I was feeling on top of the world: I had successfully navigated the immigration office to pick up my residency permit or DIRE that morning, had begun transferring the title of my car to my name, had gotten a little work done in spite of the holiday, in other words I had already achieved 3 things in 1 day, which is 2.5 things over my quota.
A perfect time to go home and take a nap, watch TV, or play godoku. Instead, I let a kid selling windshield wipers convince me to pull over on 24th of July and sell me some brand-spankin' new blades. He ripped off the old ones before I could inspect the merchandise or name a price and 20 minutes later I'm $15 poorer and my old but functional windshield wipers have been replaced with shiny new strips of glass that magically resist touching the glass when it rains. I was lucky to sulk home with my 3 remaining hubcaps.
